The government has agreed to implement another housing project for Felda settlers in Gugusan Sungai Dusun in Hulu Selangor, Prime Minister Najib Razak said.

He said the RM32 million project, involving 250 units, would be najib visit to kuala kubu 030410 01 implemented on a 14ha site at Soeharto Felda.

Najib said the three-room low and medium-cost houses, priced at RM42,000 and RM75,000 respectively, were based on the affordable home concept.

"Settlers can either buy these houses through financing from banks or through a hire-purchase scheme," he said in a statement issued here.

He said the housing project was proof of the government's commitment in helping the new Felda generations to own houses.

Najib said the government had completed 1,357 units of such houses in four locations, costing RM54.8 million, which had already been occupied by settlers.

A total of 1,326 units were under construction, costing RM118.8 million, and expected to be completed in stages from this year, he added.

The prime minister said the government was always looking into the housing needs of Felda settlers in line with the vision to uplift the standard of living of the settlement community nationwide.

The by-election follows the death of incumbent Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad of PKR.

Nomination day is April 17, while polling is on April 25.
