The Selangor government under the PKR, PAS and DAP leadership has failed to deliver on a number of promises made in the last two years, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek said today.

On the other hand, the federal government led by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who had been in office for just a year, had brought a lot of changes by introducing various liberalisation measures to boost the country's economy and competitiveness, he said.

He said the Pakatan Rakyat state government took over the government two years ago with their promise "to make Malaysia better", but instead it had become an issue.

"After two years, the rakyat demand to know where the change is or (if there was change) the change is insignificant," he told reporters after campaigning for Barisan Nasional in the Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election in the Kampung Sijantung morning market in Kalumpang.

The BN's P Kamalanathan is facing Datuk Zaid Ibrahim of PKR.

Dr Chua cited an example where the Selangor government had said that the main source of revenue would be from the sand mining industry which was estimated at about RM150 million, but the records showed that they collected only RM10 million in 2009.

He said that since taking over the state government after the 2008 general election, the opposition pact had not fulfilled its promise to give land to SJKC Serendah, but had instead given land title to a Chinese school in Petaling Jaya.

On Najib's statement the Hulu Selangor would be test to the new MCA leadership, he said it would a test for all BN component parties.

There are about 17,000 Chinese voters in the constituency of 64,500 voters and the MCA has about 8,000 members.
