The National Organisation of Muslim Students Malaysia (PKPIM) have taken their outrage over the death of 15-year-old Aminulrasyid Hamzah to cyberspace by starting a Facebook group protesting the matter.

The teenager was shot in the head in the early hours of Monday, after he allegedly acted suspiciously and tried to ram a car into members of a police patrol unit in Section 11, Shah Alam.

The group, named Keadilan untuk Adik Aminulrasyid (Justice for Aminulrasyid), was started yesterday and has attracted over 1,600 members.

faizal aziz pkpim In a press statement, PKPIM Muhammad Faisal Abdul Aziz ( left) said they were compelled to start a group to seek justice for the secondary school student.

"We want to rally society to push the police to seriously investigate this matter to ensure that such incidents will not reoccur," he said.

He added that the police could have used other methods to apprehend Aminulrasyid and had no reason to open fire as the student did not pose a threat.

Non-Muslim members

NONE The Facebook group, which also has non-Muslim members, also highlights Section 46 (3) Criminal Procedure Code, noting that the section does not give the police the right to cause the death of a person who is not accused of an offence punishable by death.

Members of the group are also of the view that a royal commission of inquiry should be formed to investigate the matter.

Also featured on the Facebook page, however, are screenshots of other Facebook pages containing claims that the 15-year-old deserved to be shot dead because he was evading arrest.

Other photos posted include as well as one which reads 'Belia Benci Police' (Youth who hate the police), and photos of the deceased.

Yesterday, Selangor police Chief Khalid Abdul Bakar said all four police personnel involved in the incident have been transferred to desk jobs while investigations are being carried out under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
