Selangor MIC today lodged a police report against Gerakan Anti Samy Vellu (GAS) for planning to distribute 500,000 VCDs and anti-Samy posters during its upcoming GAS gathering.

NONE In the police report, Selangor MIC information chief L Siva Subramaniam stated that the distribution of VCDs and the gathering billed as ‘GAS 2' could be detrimental to the Indian community.

"I believe about 500,000 VCDs and 500,000 anti-Samy posters will be distributed during the July 4 gathering. I want to know who is funding this," the statement read.

He also urged the police to look into the matter.

The 30-minute VCD on why the MIC head must step down sooner than he intends is expected to be distributed next week.

The contents will highlight the alleged failures of MIC head S Samy Vellu and explain why he should relinquish the post of party president which he has held since 1979.

The MIC leader also asked the police not to give a permit for the GAS 2 gathering which is expected to be held in Dewan Hamzah, Klang, on July 4.

"GAS is not even a registered organisation," he added.

The MIC leader also pressed for an investigation as there are threats that MIC members will be joining the gathering, to create problems.

On June 22, Former MIC central working committee member KP Samy said that the movement will adopt Gandhi's principle of ahimsa (nonviolence) should there be any problems during the GAS 2 rally.

The first gathering , held on May 30 in Serdang, had seen a lower-than-expected turnout, but was still hailed as a successful event.
