Selangor opposition leader Mohamad Khir Toyo walked into the state assembly today, marking his return from his year-long suspension.

NONE Flanked by his colleagues from the opposition bench, the former menteri besar was all smiles as he walked into the assembly's annexe building at around 10am, chatting with the media for a while before entering the House.

"I'm happy to be back," he said before he was ushered in.

Khir was suspended in July last year after he failed to attend a hearing by the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) and also allegedly attacking the committee in the media.

The ensuing scramble by media photographers to take pictures of Khir upon his entrance to the House however did not go down well with speaker Teng Chang Khim, who was clearly annoyed by a few who did not follow proper etiquette.

He eventually ejected a photographer who was not properly dressed.

"The mirror (inside the House) is not for you to adjust your clothing. This is not a changing room, this is the state assembly," he said during question time.

"The House has been very accommodating to journalists, but you need to respect the rules," he said.
