The DAP disciplinary committee has expelled Yap Hock Siew for issuing a letter recommending a company which he co-owns for a state contract.
The committee also today resolved to suspend another member Ong Chai Huat for two years, because he is the other co-owner of the company.
According to a statement by committee chairperson Tan Kok Wai, Yap had issued the letter dated June 17 in his capacity as Kampung Baru Pandamaran village head.
Yap is the chairperson of the Pasar Pandamaran DAP branch while Ong is the vice-chairperson of the same branch.
“They have 14 days from the date of disciplinary action to appeal in writing against the decision to the party central executive committee,” said Tan.
Yap was alleged to have recommended his company First Team Enterprise for a contract to maintain and clean the floodgates at Jalan Papan Pandamaran.
