Kajang councillor Lee Kee Hiong has lodged a police report against a website which claims to represent the Selangor opposition, for alleging that she was involved in numerous corrupt acts.

The report was made at the Selangor police headquarters, in which Lee urged the police to investigate the website authors and the allegations against her so she can clear her name.

NONE Website Pembangkang Selangor had claimed that Lee ( left) had hatched a plan to fill DAP's coffers through corrupt means, including compelling contractors to mark up invoices for state-funded projects in the Seri Kembangan state constituency.

The Sept 1 article entitled Lee Kee Hiong Penjahat Sebenar Dalam DAP (Lee Kee Hiong the real culprit in DAP) also claims that her uncle had been awarded contracts in many DAP-held constituencies within Selangor.

Speaking to reporters today, Lee said that the article was solely meant to slander the Pakatan Rakyat state administration.

"They have not achieved anything politically in the country and in Selangor so they have to resort to dirty tactics to tarnish my name," said Lee, who is also Selangor DAP education director, a post she has held since 2003.

Report disproves claims

Her lawyer V Ganabatirau notes that this is the first time that such allegations had been levelled against Lee. He believes it was intended to create racial conflict and may be considered seditious.

NONE "We don't know who is behind this but photos of (Selangor opposition leader) Dr Mohd Khir Toyo is on the website's banners," he said.

Kampung Tunku assemblyperson Lau Weng San, who accompanied Lee to the police station, said the councillor's police report disproves the website's allegations against her.

"This is the right thing to do because lodging a false police report is a crime," he said.

He also refutes the website's claim that the third-term councillor manages state allocations for several constituencies, including his own.

"I handle everything myself from A to Z," he said.

When contacted, Khir said that the website was an "unofficial" portal for the opposition but did not elaborate.
