NGOs Gerakan Anti Penyelewengan Selangor (Gaps) and Selangor Perkasa wants "traitorous" PKR Seri Muda assemblyperson Shuhaimi Shafiei to hang for allegedly inciting "war on the Malay rulers".

"His statement was rude and uncouth. It contains slander, threats and is treasonous against the institution of royalty in Selangor. I also believe his statement is seditious," said Gaps chairperson Hamidzun Khairuddin to reporters after lodging a police report at the Shah Alam police district headquarters.

NONE The complainants are taking issue with comments that Suhaimi had posted on his blog on Dec 30 last year.

The Seri Muda representative had commented in relation to the Selangor state secretary appointment debacle that continues to plague the state.

In their respective reports both NGOs wants Shuhaimi to be hauled up for treason under Section 121 of the penal code for "an act of war against Malay rulers", an offence punishable by death.

Alternatively, they urge the authorities to also charge Shuhaimi under section 121(1B) for attempting to incite or for working towards the ousting of a head of state, that will beget life imprisonment.

Selangor Perkasa chairperson Abdullah Mansur (above) represented the right-wing Malay rights NGO.

Twenty members from both organisations gathered at the police station in a show of support.

‘Rude and uncouth’

The police reports cite three paragraphs from Suhaimi’s posting that they said was “rude and uncouth” against the Selangor Sultan.

pkr congress 281110 shuhaimi In particular they said they were alarmed by Shuhaimi’s “insults” against the Sultan in two instances where the PKR rep had referred to unfair actions by the ruler, and the sultan’s “ego”.

Shuhaimi ( right ) had written in his blog, “The rakyat will reject any excessive and unfair actions by any party who acts as they please, regardless if it is a ruler with the heart of the people, or people with the heart of a ruler.

“Is it possible that his highness will not budge? My hope is that ego will not be mistaken for steadfastness.”

More importantly, said the complainants, they believe that Suhaimi’s comments constituted sedition and incitement of conflict against the royal institution, citing another paragraph:

“Historically, when the people rise against the king, even if a thousand years were to pass, in the end righteousness will put to sleep any injustice. The people will win in any war against injustice. We hope this will not happen in Selangor,” Suhaimi had written. 

Both NGOs threatened to lodge a police reports daily all over Malaysia until Shuhaimi is brought to justice.

“We want the authorities to detain Shuhaimi for his crimes,” said Abdullah.

The police report against Shuhaimi is the latest in a series of flare ups between BN and Pakatan over several issues in the industrial state, in what pundits are calling a concerted campaign by the ruling coalition to wrest Selangor from opposition rule.
