Former Malaysia Airlines (MAS) chairperson Tajudin Ramli's appeal against the national carrier has been postponed for the second time.

The Court of Appeal was to have heard the appeal today, but it was taken off the list of scheduled cases.

Tajudin's lawyer Lim Kian Leong confirmed this when contacted, but declined to elaborate when asked if this has to do with the proposed Global Settlement to the suing parties.

MAS has filed a tajudin ramli mas 070910 RM200 million suit against Tajudin (left) , as have Celcom, TRI, Telekom Malaysia Bhd and the government.

Tajudin then filed a RM13.6 billion counter-claim against all the parties.

However, his application to strike out the MAS suit was dismissed by the Kuala Lumpur High Court. It also dismissed his counter-claim, leading to the appeal.

‘MAS has not received proposal’

Checks with some of the parties involved revealed that none of them has received his plans for the Global Settlement since this was mooted last October.

There has also been talk that lawyer Rosli Dahlan has been removed from representing the airline, based on a demand by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

azlan When contacted, Rosli (right) declined to confirm this, only saying: "I can only say I am no longer required to assist the MACC in their investigation against Tajudin.”

To another question as to whether MAS has received any proposal for settlement from Tajudin’s  lawyers  pursuant to the Global Settlement, he said: "No, MAS has not received any proposal so far.”

When asked if the proposal has arisen from direct negotiations with the government, Rosli was brief: “ I don’t know who they made their  proposal to."

Rosli was recently acquitted without his defence being called on a technical charge of non-disclosure of his assets to the MACC. He had maintained that the MACC had no basis to issue any  such notice to him and he claimed to have been victimised.

He has since filed a suit against the MACC, Attorney-General’s Chambers and several media publications, in relation to the rough manner in which he was arrested and charged in 2007.

There is widespread perception that the MACC had acted against him and former Commercial Crime Investigation director Ramli Yusof, after they recommended that action be taken against Tajudin.
