Yuhaizad Abdullah, the PAS candidate in the Merlimau state by-election, hopes to win hearts with flowers.
The 38-year-old was seen distributing flowers to every woman he met at the Merlimau bus and taxi stands near here during the 30 minutes or so he was there today.
He was accompanied by PAS Assemblyman for Bukit Rotan (Kedah) Mohd Nasir Mustafa and several aides.
"I like his cordial disposition and he seems to be a friendly person," said a passer-by when asked his opinion of Yuhaizad, who is the Malacca PAS Youth deputy chief.
Yuhaizad is taking on Roslan Ahmad, 44, of the BN in the by-election, polling for which is on Sunday.
The by-election has been necessitated by the death of BN assemblyman Mohamad Hidhir Abu Hassan on Jan 20.
"God willing, into the third day of campaigning, the people I have met are responding well. We hope to meet many more voters in Merlimau," Yuhaizad said.
His wife, Shakila Mohamad ( right, in the picture above ), is a teacher, and the couple have four children.
Asked about his daily routine during the campaign period since Saturday, Yuhaizad said he met people from dawn till late at night through programmes arranged by the party machinery.
Yuhaizad is a maintenance project manager at a university in Malacca city.
