Blind to the Sarawak elephant in the room

vox populi small thumbnail 'An elephant is standing in front of them and yet they refuse to see, whereas when an ant is spotted, they chase it and probably kill it too.'

MACC mum over probe on Taib Mahmud

Ridzuan: Actually the MACC chief should keep his word and resign because he said that he will investigate all complaints. The whole world knows about the Sarawak chief minister but MACC is blind and deaf. What you sow is what you reap. God sees everything.

Lim Chong Leong: The arrogance of these people! Not only have they nothing to say on Abdul Taib Mahmud (because there are no investigations), they even threatened the press with PPPA (Printing Presses and Publications Act).

And what is he rambling on "you cannot ask me what I know, but ask me what you already know, so confirm first" crap? For the record, there have been many reports against Taib, but they act like there have been none.

Freemsia: Yet more proof that MACC dare not investigate the big fish. This is Abdul Taib Mahmud we are talking about. The chief minister of Sarawak. And Sarawak is BN's fixed deposit in the general election. Nothing new here.

Confused: "Under the Act, you must have reasonable cause for your belief. If there is any investigation against the chief minister, you must first be convinced there is (reasonable cause). This is the requirement under the Act. You cannot fish for evidence".

This is so contradicting to what the MACC officers said at the Teoh Beng Hock royal commission of inquiry. Wasn't MACC fishing for evidence when they interrogated Teoh?

Mirror thyself: By the time MACC completes its investigations into Taib and Tajudin Ramli, commission chief Abu Kassim Mohamed would have retired and a new guy would have taken over.

The whole ball game of continuing to investigate upon receiving new evidence would begin again, thus prolonging the investigations. The bottom line - no one in MACC has the guts to call a spade a spade.

Michael Ng 34f2: We all must face the facts that the MACC, the judiciary, PDRM (police), EC (Election Commission) and many other government institutions are Umno stooges.

I was most disapponted when I asked a low-ranking government servant friend of mine in Muar on who he supports, and he says he has to support his employer (in other words, the BN government) as he owes them a living.

I told him off that it is the rakyat who pays his wages, not BN or Umno. With a low mentality like this frend of mine, I feel sorry for him and his many young children. He is just a very nice simple Malay man.

DNA: It is time for Umno and MACC to be disbanded due to the selective prosecutions being carried out. An elephant is standing right in front of them and yet they refuse to see, whereas when an ant is spotted, they chase it and probably kill it too.

Cops to quiz Anwar over 'rowdy' ceramah

Atan-Toyol: Yes, keep harassing the opposition leaders while the BN is still in power. Keep abusing the power given by the rakyat while you have it. Remember that that power can be taken back in the next GE.

PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) is scared that BN will lose the GE because when that happens there will surely be an overhaul of the police force, and there is a good chance that the commission to oversee the police as recommended by the royal commission will be implemented without further ado.

Michael Ng 34f2: It was a peaceful ceramah until the police came in to interrupt on the excuse that there was no permit. It stinks of total unfairness, as when it comes to opposition parties wanting to hold ceramah, permits are rarely given or it comes with lots of conditions.

GO4CHANGE: The stupid cops should arrest the entire Melawati and Gombak folk. It has nothing to do with Anwar Ibrahim and Azmin Ali. The crowd was peaceful and law abiding until the rude and arrogant cops moved in with its high-handed approach to abruptly terminate the ceramah.

Simply put, the rakyat were provoked and agitated by the police.

DAP women to be unleashed against BN seniors

P Dev Anand Pillai: These girls are from Sarawak and if they can do a better job than the men, then why not let them do it?

Women can show that they are able to decide who should govern the states or the centre and demand for clean and efficient government.

It is just that many are still enjoying the fruits of corrupt practices which they have learnt from the senior male leaders like what we see in BN. So you can say, the revolution might start with the women.

Survivor: By looking at some of the Umno men in Parliament and the state assemblies, you can't help but say that women make better politicians than them.

And I agree with S Ong that it's time to let them kick some butt. Certainly, I would not agree with Ccsan that they are sent in as sacrificial lambs. In politics, you either win or lose. If you win, prove your worth to the people. If you lose, build up your strength to fight another day.

Geronimo: Our young heroines in Malaysian politics - Hannah Yeoh, Teresa Kok, Jenice Lee, Elizabeth Wong, Nurul Izzah Anwar, Violet Yong, Teo Nie Ching and Ting Tze Fui will be our beacon of hope for a better future.

DontPlayGod: Geronimo, you omitted Fong Po Kuan, the young fiery lady who started it all. But of late, she has been very quiet. Is it due to her being a married woman now?

Ronin: Bravo DAP! By the way, get an orang utan to go against Bung Moktar Radin.
