Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali warned MCA and Gerakan that the movement would work to undermine the parties' candidates in the coming general elections if their leaders continue to question Malay rights.

NONE Ibrahim ( right ), who spoke at a gathering organised by the Malay rights pressure group in Alor Setar, Kedah, said that any of the parties' candidates who insult the Malays would be punished by the community.

He added that his group, established after the 2008 general election, would be monitoring the candidates from the two BN component parties this coming polls.

"Do you think our votes have no value, and that our votes are not important?" Ibrahim asked the 800 who gathered for a Malay Unity rally at the Sultan Abdul Halim stadium today.

"Without Malay votes, none of your candidates can win this general election... so be good to us," he stormed.

NONE Ibrahim, who is Pasir Mas MP, said this in response to MCA's call for a boycott of Umno-owned Malay language daily Utusan Malaysia .

Utusan'a deputy editor-in-chief Zaini Hassan had recently called for a "1Malay, 1Bumi' movement in response to the shift in Chinese support from BN to the DAP and Pakatan Rakyat during the Sarawak election this month.

Earlier, speculation was rife that Perkasa was planning to launch the movement in Kelantan, Perak and Kedah.

However, Perkasa leaders distanced themselves from the movement, saying they were uncertain of what it entails.

‘Malay unity is national unity’

Perkasa patron Mahathir Mohamad was special guest at the Perkasa event, where Ibrahim and Kedah Perkasa chief Syed Osman Syed Mansor praised the former PM as a great Malay leader.

Ibrahim, who spoke passionately on Malay rights and unity for about 25 minutes reiterated his calls for the non-Malay community not to challenge the Malays as the latter's unity was the foundation for national unity.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim expressed his disdain for Chua Soi Lek, saying the MCA president called for the boycott as a cover for his party's inability to garner support for BN in the election.

NONE He added that he believed the Chinese community still supported the BN, but that they withheld it because they had lost faith in Chua.

He urged the two Chinese parties in BN not to persist in blame Perkasa and Utusan Malaysia for their electoral losses.

        

"It is not that they do not support the BN, they do not support Chua because he is a sex actor like Anwar Ibrahim," said Ibrahim, drawing laughter from the audience.

"I never criticised (Chua) but since he has spoken... I want to ask him to wake up...

“Although he is also great as he had admitted being the man in the sex video, unlike Anwar - the other one did not admit he is the man in the video... Chua did - and that is why he is now the MCA president," he quipped.

Utusan’s ‘national agenda’

Ibrahim then called for support for Utusan Malaysia , saying it was a newspaper that promoted a ‘national agenda’.

NONE He added that the Chinese and Tamil newspapers as well as the Internet portals were also guilty of raising racial sentiments but no one had called for their boycott.

Ibrahim backed his claims by showing several prints from the Internet depicting photos of mosques being desecrated with images of pigs.

"Where are the defenders of Islam... why don't we take action on those who insult Islam?" he huffed.
