Sekinchan DAP assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim has lodged a police report against the Utusan Malaysia , accusing the Malay daily of publishing a false article to drive a wedge between DAP and PAS.

The Umno-owned daily published a report on Tuesday titled "Pengguguran Hasan Ali disambut baik DAP" (DAP welcomes decision to drop Hasan Ali), quoting Ng as saying that the decision will strengthen the relationship among Pakatan Rakyat's component parties in Selangor.

Fuming over lack of ethics

"The report contains defamatory elements and is false and fabricated news.

"I demand that Utusan issue a public apology. This is clearly against media ethics," he said.

Ng claimed that the report was deliberately fabricated to sabotage his relationship with Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali.

"In fact, I have good rapport with Hasan," he added.

The report quoted Ng as saying "It's not that we (DAP) don't like (Hasan), but I heard that he is not good and seldom goes to the ground".

"However, I believe the change in PAS state leadership will strengthen the opposition parties (in Pakatan) in Selangor."

According to the Utusan report, Ng also accused Hasan of supporting the Umno-PAS unity government proposed by Umno.

Recent Utusan reports have suggested that the ulama faction has been marginalised in the party and that PAS has digressed from its Islamic struggle.
