The trouble-makers planning to hold illegal street demonstrations on July 9 were reminded not to abuse the royalty institution to further their aims.

NONE Election Comission chairman Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the royalty instutution was the highest institution in the country and must be shown due respect.

He said the plan by the trouble-makers to send a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin using the street demonstration approach without a police permit was not right.

"As such, I wish to urge the organisers and supporters of this illegal street demonstration who want to deliver a memorandum to his majesty to do it the proper way according to Malaysian norms.

"The best way to do this is to appoint representives to deliver the memorandum to his majesty and not through illegal street demonstrations," he said when interviewed on Bernama Radio 24's  Kerusi Panas programme yesterday.
