Former Selangor MB Dr Mohd Khir Toyo's claim that three cabinet ministers are out to have him jailed to ensure that BN recaptures Selangor can be hurtful for some cabinet ministers.

In particular, Selangor Umno information chief Abdul Syukur Idrus said, one minister hailing from Selangor would feel slighted.

Selangor Umno Youth Mob Karpal Singh Abdul Syukur Idrus 050309 05 "I believe at least one minister from Selangor is likely to feel slighted, while the other two, I can't say," Syukur ( right ) said when contacted today.

The only cabinet minister from Selangor is Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister and Tanjung Karang MP Noh Omar, who is also deputy to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in his capacity as Selangor Umno chief.

"(Khir) should not have made such a statement before ascertaining the veracity of his claim," Syukur said.

In fact, the Selayang Umno chief added, Khir's statement on his blog late yesterday could even cause "a now calm situation to turn messy again".

"Umno and BN are now much stronger in the bid to win over the states we lost (in 2008)," he added.

In a candid blog entry yesterday, Khir claimed that three unnamed cabinet ministers were ‘conspiring' to put him behind bars for corruption.

He claimed he could not reveal the names of the ministers, but insisted that he obtained the information from credible sources.

Syukur, who is the assemblyperson for Kuang, also described Khir’s allegations as “something shocking” and that he did not see how jailing Khir would enable BN to defeat the Pakatan Rakyat administration in the next election.

‘It will not affect Selangor Umno’

“That’s an old-fashioned view, and beyond God’s powers. Winning or losing an election is subject to the performance of the leader and the government in power,” he said.

“It (jailing Khir) will not affect Selangor Umno because we have the determination to restore the BN to power,” Syukur said.

The rakyat would choose competent candidates and parties able to perform and fulfil the needs of the people in the future.

Syukur is also not certain if the other Umno leaders would buy Khir’s allegation.

NONE “He (Khir) was my former boss, I sympathise with what has happened to him. However, the party’s interest must come first,” he stressed.

Selangor opposition leader Mohamad Satim Diman ( left ) insisted that Khir’s claims had “nothing to do” with Selangor Umno.

“In fact, it is his personal problem. In Selangor Umno, we are united, we organise many programmes and even the prime minister participates. We have no problems,” Satim said.

The Sri Serdang assemblyperson added that he was not aware of Khir’s claim, despite having served as Selangor Umno secretary in the past.

Sementa assemblyperson Abdul Rahman Palil - who served as an executive councillor under Khir’s administration - refused to comment on the matter.

“I have no comment... they are all my friends. I don’t think it is proper,” Rahman said.
