'Anwar fishing for info from Najib, Rosmah'

Jeremy: I cannot prejudice the court judgment. But it would be an incredible joke if the judge can accept the applicants' argument.

How can the lawyers say the presence of Najib Abdul Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, is irrelevant if they have met a nobody like complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan two days before alleged sodomy.

Worse still, and taking all Malaysians for fools, for them to say that the meeting was related to a scholarship application.

This meeting creates strong suspicion of a political conspiracy. Hence, the onus is on Najib and Rosmah to prove otherwise with their court presence.

Bluemountains: If Najib and Rosmah respect the rule of law, they must present themselves in court.

A subpoena is a court issued command for an individual to appear before the court. Failure to comply can result in contempt of court charges.

The judge concerned must uphold the rule of law and order them to be present as everyone is equal in the eyes of the law.

CiViC: We all know the result of all this. But the point here is that, regardless of the end result, the PM and his wife have already lost all credibility by refusing to stand.

Ferdtan: Let us once again remind the honourable judge, Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah, that justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done.

As a judge he obviously knows too well of that expression. The most powerful man in the country; a prime minister at that, and his equally influential wife, have spoken through their lawyers that they do not want to attend court.

The question is: will the judge be brave enough to live up to the principle of justice? Will he dare to go against the prime minister?

In Sodomy I, Dr Mahathir Mohamad 'chickened' out of appearing in court with the agreement of the infamous judge, Augustine Paul; and the public had since ridiculed the judiciary.

Mohamad Zabidin, do your duty - get Najib and Rosmah to court and let the public decide whether they are relevant as defence witnesses.

I'm wishing against hope as we know in our heart, justice had died a long time ago.

Thinker: Najib and Rosmah were offered to Anwar by the prosecution. If they are useless as witnesses, why offer them in the first place?

P Dev Anand Pillai : You are very right, Najib and Rosmah were offered to the defence by the prosecution.

Further, in a criminal charge, the prosecution has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of the alleged offence, so lawyer Hisyam The Poh Teik has gone on a wrong tangent in his arguments.

Of course, their evidence is relevant. If it is not relevant, why did the complainant go to see the duo before going to the cops?

It is not Anwar who is fishing, it is Najib and Rosmah who can't face him in court because the whole allegation is nothing but a lie which has continued from the time of Mahathir.

Anonymous_417c: PM Najib can cite that as head of state, he deserves to be released from testifying. But self-proclaimed First Lady Rosmah, as an ordinary person, can't do that. Think about it, Karpal Singh.

2cts Worth: I would think the meeting between the PM and Saiful is suspicious. The PM discussing scholarship matters with a student? The timing in itself is suspicious.

The PM can only clear the doubts by coming forward as witness. The onus is on him. But he is afraid and this leads to the perception he has something to conceal.

Isana: PM, you mentioned that you are not afraid of Anwar, so take up the challenge, accept his subpoena and face him head-on. That's the way of a leader who is brave and "cool". Is this 1Malaysia or Tipu Malaysia?

Kerana Benar : So malu , the "cool" PM doesn't dare to be a witness. He talks big that he's not afraid to face Anwar but now why chicken out?

AkuMelayuIslam: It's interesting to watch how Najib and Rosmah have suddenly turned into cowards. At ceramah, they act like brave warriors in confronting Anwar, but when the time comes, they hide behind the judge.

The reality is, they are just scare stiff. Anyway, Zabidin will likely strike out Anwar's application.
