Ambrin: AG's report to be tabled on Monday
The Auditor-General’s Report 2010 will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday, said Auditor-General Ambrin Buang.
The Auditor-General’s Report 2010 will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday, said Auditor-General Ambrin Buang.
He is also scheduled to give a briefing on the report to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) members in Parliament the same day.
In a statement in Kuala Lumpur today, Ambrin said the Treasury’s response to the report
would also be tabled together.
“In 2010, the Auditor-General’s Report was not tabled on the same day as the national budget so as to enable both to get equal coverage.
“It has been the practice since 1982 that the Auditor-General’s report would first be submitted to the cabinet before being tabled in the Dewan Rakyat. It is to familiarise the cabinet with the issues that would be raised so that the government could provide explanation when needed,” he said.
Ambrin said the Auditor-General’s reports for the states would be submitted to the respective state executive councils before being tabled in their state assemblies.
“The National Audit Department also wants to stress here that no amendments have been made to either the national or state reports,” he said.
Certain opposition members of parliament had recently questioned why the Auditor-General’s report for 2010 was not tabled during the tabling of the 2012 Budget.
