Anwar Ibrahim is certain that the authorities will go after him for allegedly providing "false information" on the screening of the sex video by the 'Datuk T' threesome, just to "keep me busy".

NONE Anwar, who is in the midst of wrapping up his defence on a sodomy charge, said this when asked whether the new police investigation has been initiated in the event he is acquitted.

"Acquitted or not, they will investigate me, just to keep me busy," said Anwar, the PKR de facto leader.

"I won't be surprised if they come up with a new charge."

A probe against Anwar was opened after the investigating officer in the 'Datuk T' case, DSP Shanmugan Moorthy, lodged a police report that Anwar had knowingly given him false information, an offence under Section 182 of the Penal Code.

Anwar's police report concerned the 'Datuk T' sex tape, which was initially screened to several members of the mass media at a luxury hotel in Kuala Lumpur last March, before being uploaded on the Internet.

'Desperate move to imprison Anwar'

“I wont be surprised if (Attorney-General Abdul) Gani Patail on (Prime Minister) Najib (Abdul Razak’s) orders proceeds to prosecute me... I know how the system works,” said Anwar, who is also Permatang Pauh MP.

“With word of the general election coming up and the sodomy trial coming to an end, they need to prosecute me on something new. That is their style. They shouldn’t think for a second that the rakyat will be fooled by their tricks,” he added.

azlan Anwar, and the rest of the PKR leadership as well, have maintained that the sex video probe is politically motivated and a desperate attempt to imprison Anwar.

The Datuk T trio – businessperson Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, Risda chairperson and former Malacca chief minister Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and former Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim - had pleaded guilty to screening the obscene video and were fined by a magistrate's court.

The three had shown the video clip of a man resembling Anwar having sex with a woman to journalists and editors at the luxury Carcosa Seri Negara Hotel.

Shazryl and Rahim unmasked themselves as the ones responsible for the screening, at a press conference two days after the screening.

Although Shazryl claimed that the only copy of the video with him had been surrendered to the police, clips from it were later posted on a pro-Umno blog. Soon after, the full 21-minute video was also posted on the Internet.
