Up until yesterday, Umno has a total of 3,297,358 members, with Sabah having the highest number with 487,447 members.

Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor told the 2011 Umno general assembly in Kuala Lumpur today that Silam in Sabah registered the highest number of Umno members at the division level with 44,440 members, while Felda Air Tawar 2 in Kota Tinggi, Johor recorded the highest number at the branch level with 1,631 members.

He said Umno had also expanded the use of new media though its “Media Umno Malaysia” page on Facebook and “Umno Online” on Twitter, as well as disseminating information via short messaging system, SMS Plus.

A total of 2,711 Umno delegates are attending the general assembly, he said.

This year’s Umno general assembly also saw the participation of 78 delegates from 26 political parties in 24 countries including Bangladesh, Palestine, Singapore and Indonesia, as well as 64 delegates from 74 Overseas Umno Clubs.
