The police have been asked to probe deeper into the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) fiasco.

This follows the handing back of the investigation papers by the Attorney-General’s Chambers to the police department.

"The investigation papers were returned to the police on Tuesday,” he said.

                                                

It is a normal procedure for the Attorney-General’s Chambers to return investigation papers to the police, even up to several times, and requesting them to complete their probe before deciding  whether or not to charge the individuals involved.

The police had submitted its investigation papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers earlier this week.

Federal Commercial Crime director Syed Ismail Syed Azizan said on Monday that police had completed their probe after conducting a thorough investigation and recording 54 statements, including from the staff of NFC.        

Police had initially investigated the case under Section 405 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust. However, deputy inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said on Nov 30, 2011, that initial investigations showed there was no element of CBT.

Meanwhile, over the weekend, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak announced that all NFC’s assets had been frozen .
