Maximus to hear appeal by six on Lynas

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Dr Maximus Ongkili will hear the appeal by Tan Boon Teet and five others regarding the Lynas rare earth plant in Gebeng, Kuantan.
In a statement, the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry said the group had appealed through their lawyer Bastian Vendargon for the minister to review the Atomic Energy Licensing Board’s decision to issue a temporary operating licence to Lynas (M) Sdn Bhd.
The appeal was provided for under Section 32 of the Atomic Energy Licensing Act (Act 304), the statement said.
A notice informing the date of the hearing had been sent to the lawyer’s firm today, it added.
