The Home Ministry has formed a focal point team that acts as the communications coordinator and implementor to tackle crime in the country.

Its secretary-general Abdul Rahim Mohamad Radzi said the team comprises senior officers Ayub Yaakub (Royal Malaysian Police), Dr Waitchalla RRV Suppiah (Home Ministry) and Nishan MPR Veerakumar of the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu).

“The focal point team will tackle crime issues including police omnipresence and will involve the private sector, NGOs and government agencies like the police, Rela, and Civil Defence Department .

“Via this approach, efforts to ensure safety will cover public places like shopping malls and schools,” he said in a statement in Putrajaya today.

Abdul Rahim said the government is serious in its efforts to reduce the  crime rate to safeguard security and public order.

“Our priority is to ensure that the security level is high and to create a sense of security among Malaysian society,” he added.
