“If the 13th general election is to be postponed to 2013, Bersih urges that the electoral roll should be cleaned up and we and other NGOs are willing to help.”
According to the print screen provided by Bersih, the voter whose name was entered as “” was registered in the Bintulu parliament seat and Kidurong state seat.
However, the EC has since corrected the name of the voter to Ajis Julaihi after the error was highlighted in the Internet and the media.
A pro-Pakatan Rakyat blogger also revealed recently that the name of a Filipino who was allegedly jailed in 2010 for holding a fake MyKad was found in the electoral roll as a registered voter.
Bersih, PSC recommendations not implemented
Ambiga also criticised the EC for not implementing all the eight Bersih demands as well as other suggestions the parliamentary select committee (PSC) on electoral reform had submitted 6 months ago.
She said even in the case of the use of indelible ink that the EC had agreed upon, Bersih is also not satisfied with how it is being implemented.
"Under the regulation they have announced now, indelible ink would be applied before voting, but the normal practice is you apply it after voting."
"We want a demonstration by the EC to all political parties and other interested non-government organisations on how the indelible ink would be executed."
To add pressure to the EC to implement all the Bersih demands and PSC suggestions, the coalition is organising a concert at 6pm next Sunday at Kelana Jaya stadium.
