EC pulling another Sabah stunt in Selangor

YOURSAY ‘Asking the EC to conduct the election is like asking the owner of a football team to referee a match between his team and a bitter rival.'

MB: 28pct of half million new voters in S'gor unidentifiable

your say Moontime: Are we surprised at their lack of commitment to clean up the rolls? Not at all. The same strategies have been deployed time and again in the past to varying degrees of success.

However, this time, things have changed. The rakyat have woken up to a new reality: they can actually do something about it.

So, Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim, no matter what the Election Commission (EC) tells you, just do it. Clean it up. You have thousands of volunteers willing to do it, and without asking for pay too. Only a clean and transparent election that's free of phantom voters and aliens is acceptable.

Granted, it may not be an easy task with the EC being uncooperative, but surely there are many ways to go around it. Think, strategise and execute the plan. We're counting on you.

Buddyoo:

If the EC can allow for 10 percent or even five percent of this 28 percent to be independently verified, it is already good enough. What is so difficult about this, unless the EC is hiding something?

Fair&Just: To nip the problem at an early stage such as to prevent an occurrence of the Sabah fiasco, it is prudent and the duty of the Selangor government to identify the unknown influx of ‘citizens' hence ensuring that the security and safety of the rakyat of the state of Selangor are free from transgression from terrorists and subversive elements, illegals, invasions and so on.

The EC has a fiduciary duty to aid whatever state to ensure that national security is maintained.

Merdekarakyat:

It is not surprising, Khalid. Umno did the same thing to Sabah's Pairin Kitingan too. Look what has happened in Lahad Datu now. Selangor's is a clear case where the EC is not neutral.

Kgen:

The EC is going to help BN recapture Selangor the same way it helped BN recapture Terengganu and Sabah. This is the worst EC in the world, bar none. Asking this EC to conduct the election is like asking the owner of a football team to referee a match between his team and a bitter rival.

Starr:

This is to be expected. The electoral roll is not clean, and phantom voters are being allocated to constituencies to ensure Umno's victory.

The EC is rigging the electoral process with the help of the National Registration Department (NRD) and Umno's operatives. The EC is supposed to be the referee, but no, they behave like Umno's operatives.

Anonymous #25595435: We had attended the polling agent and counting agent (PACA) training and were sadly told that if anyone comes with a Malaysian IC, he/she has the right to vote even though they can't speak Bahasa Malaysia and even though we can tell from their faces they are definitely foreigners, and even though we suspect they are bogus Malaysians. How can we still keep such a government who has a strong hold on the EC?

Anonymous #19098644:

The problem Khalid is that you are not using your imagination. Look for the Pakistani who had just arrived and can't speak Bahasa Malaysia or the Bangladeshi cleaner or the Indonesian worker, or the Tausug-speaking Suluk, and there you have it - the new Umno-sponsored registered voters.

Lin Wenquan:

The loss of Selangor in 2008 was an embarrassment to Umno especially when former MB Khir Toyo bragged that he would retain the state in GE12 with zero opposition. Since then Umno-BN has been on overdrive to disrupt the machinery in the administration of the state by Khalid and his team.

The insidious intention was to destabilise the state, anger the rakyat and hopefully, by GE13, we would return to BN like prodigal sons. And EC's role? Well, to deliver the coup de grace by adulterating and manipulating the rolls through the inclusion of phantom voters numerically big enough to snatch back the state.

After all, Selangor is where the seat of government is and the richest cash cow in the country to milk from through fair and foul means. Those manning the EC should be impeached. This ought to be of the utmost priority for Pakatan because we have had enough of these imbeciles and recalcitrants.

Anonyxyz:

The number of unknown and illegal voters is an open secret that the EC never bothers to answer or to rectify, an open admission of collaborating with the BN to influence election results.

The question is whether enough solid contingency efforts have been made to monitor this and prevent this activity from happening during GE13.

Pakatan has to focus to work with international, experienced groups on how to prevent this on actual election day, working religiously with voluntary citizens/NGOs on checks and publicising how to carry out these measures.

Revealing the obvious dat of dubious records is already over; it is the time for actual walking the talk to ensure election day is the day when all concerned citizens can participate not just to go and vote but how to ensure their votes are correctly registered, and not tainted by fraud.

Onyourtoes: EC, tell us whose duty is it to clean up the electoral roll? The EC would not want to do it; yet the affected parties had volunteered to do it but were not allowed to. EC, let me remind you this: if you are not going to clean the rolls, the only inference we can draw from here is that you are doing a ‘Sabah act' on Selangor.

You have done enough damage to Sabah already. We, the people, will not allow you to do it again to the other states. The next time you claim the EC is independent or neutral, we may sue you for lying and fraud. So watch out.

A Selangor Voter:

And I thought our electoral roll was the cleanest in the world, according to the EC.
