YOURSAY 'Rafizi is right. Anyone can put any unrealistic figures into one's manifesto. But in so doing, they are damaging their credibility.'
Rafizi: BN's vow of 3.3 million new jobs not realistic
Zen:
This is another theory from politicians that will not work. Don't try to be more clever than the job market. Politicians should just provide a conducive business climate for the country and the capitalist businesspersons will do the rest.
We need political stability, strong public finance, strong banking system and a business-friendly goverment. Therefore, please stop making job projections by giving false hopes to the unemployed. Just concentrate on what politicians should do.
Fernz: These figures are ridiculous when compared with our population and the figures for job creation in the United States, which has a population of 300 million. Are we creating jobs for illegal immigrants? How many Malaysians do need jobs?
FellowMalaysian: A total of 3.3 million new jobs? Then why are European countries which are experiencing a massive 12 percent rate of unemployment or 60 million people out of job not flicking an eye over Bolehland?
ACR: Perhaps the civil service will expand even more or the government-linked companies (GLCs) given the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) projects will employ more people.
In any event, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) alone produces close to 200,000 graduates a year, so the GLCs would have to do national service. Whether the graduates produced have the skills required by industries is of no concern to Umno.
CiViC: BN, if given the federal government again, can easily create millions of jobs by simply hiring more government servants like the police, etc. Of course, this will be at the expense of public funds. But they couldn't be bothered as far as anyone knows.
Ghkok: PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli is right. Anyone can put unrealistic figures into one's manifesto. But in so doing, they are just damaging their credibility (or whatever little there is left of it).
Quigonbond: BN's simple solution - staff the government agencies with unemployable graduates. That will create the 3.3 million new jobs, while busting our budget and borrowing to record high, bringing us closer to the precipice of bankruptcy.
Tehachapi: The BN manifesto is hurriedly put together for the express purpose of deceiving the people. It is not well researched or vetted document. Thus all sorts of errors have crept into the documents.
You see, the Umno-BN party leaders had habitually assumed that no one in Malaysia is bold enough to question its logic or its math. Now, merrily PKR and DAP come along to challenge them.
It is panic galore. What to say and what to do, apart from using strong racial and religious sentiments and curses to derail everyone who dare to oppose the document or shoot darts at it.
Anonymous_3ec6: BN will also include in the ‘money-festo' that a vote for Umno-BN will guarantee a trip to the moon.
Appum: Promises from Umno-BN during this general election period in order to get votes is not worthy of any consideration.
After 56 years of mismanaging this country and plundering its resources and wealth for themselves and cronies, the rakyat are wiser.
Better still, we have now a viable opposition as an alternative to vote for, so Umno-BN is now very desperate. In this state of political threat of losing power and control after 56 years of plain sailing, Umno-BN will promise anything.
If voted back into power Umno-BN will return to its 56-year-old methods of operation, signified by self-indulgences, big-time corruption, abuse of power, dictatorial rule, racial divide, racial policies and practices using race and religion as the medium, bad governance, non-accountability, non-transparency, no rule of law, bastardisation of all public institutions as well as poor economic management.
Peacemaker: Invite BN to a debate to justify the figures. Anyone can throw any figure around but he or she must spell out the mechanism as to how to achieve them. It is impossible to totally eradicate dependency on foreign workers, however, you can reduce it. But how?
Observer_2013: The Pakatan Rakyat manifesto has many loopholes too. Plug them first before critising BN.
Boiling Mud: That sounds eerily similar to that exercise called 'Isi Penuh' some 20 years ago when a lot of government posts were created and given to the privileged sector of the country. And we are suffering the incompetence of those recruits even now.
Anonymous #33877536: Rafizi, your team must spread this to the ground. Not many subscribe to Malaysiakini . The masses must know. I have yet to see any kind of Pakatan leaflets in my area of Segambut.
Well Thats Fantastic: BN wants to bring in a lot more foreign workers, so they can only exploit the poor and not elevate them. How much will crime increase with one million more lowly-paid exploited foreign workers in the country?
In other developed countries, there are people who take great pride in being construction workers and there will always be people that only want a job like a street cleaner, but here, we throw them away.
Anonymous_4031: Desperate Najib Razak tries to follow Republican Mitt Romney. Najib promises 3.3 million jobs while Romney promised 13 million jobs in four years.
What happened to Romney? He lost to Barack Obama. Why? Because the American voters are not fools. He did not spell out how he could create these jobs.
Similarly, Najib did not spell out how he could create 3.3. million jobs. With Malaysian education on the decline, no English to speak of, how could graduates find jobs in the private sector?
Students must be able to speak and write proper English. Otherwise, they will have no chance in the private sector.
What about the public sector? Can the government afford to create 3.3. million jobs in the civil service? With Lower Secondary Evaluation Examination (PMR) abolished, and with no examinations until Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), what sort of students are we producing? Dullards?
No exam, no study; no study, no knowledge; no knowledge, no job. No job, crime rate goes up, and pregnancy rate goes up. Unwanted babies in dustbins and toilets. Poor babies, they do not ask to be born.
Dood: Since when has facts meant much to Umno-BN anyway?
