The people have conveyed a clear message in the 13 th general election (GE13) recently that they want the government to be more stern and bold in defending the important institutions in the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said this was important to ensure that the institutions created by the government all this while to protect the development, harmony, solidarity and national security were not threatened by any irresponsible group.

NONE "I received a clear message during my meetings with leaders of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the people that the government of the day must be more effective, efficient, bold and ever ready to face anything that lies ahead.

"Don't allow the irresponsible groups to jeopardise peace and solidarity prevailing in the country. They want a government that is bolder.

"I want to reiterate that we will take firmer action to protect all the institutions that had been established to look after the development, harmony, solidarity, security and peace in the country," he said.

He disclosed this in his speech at the BN Thanksgiving Function held at the Sekolah Menengah Tengku Temenggong Ahmad in Kundang Ulu, Muar today.

The event was also attended by Muhyiddin's wife, Noorainee Abd Rahman, Johor Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek as well as leaders of the state BN component parties.

Muhyiddin said this message was among the findings of the analysis carried out by the BN based on the last general election results.

He also gave an assurance that the government would lay greater emphasis on sections of the society who had supported the BN in the last general election to the extent that the party succeeded in continuing to administer the country.

Clear message from voters

"The clear message is that the majority of the Malays, Indians, bumiputera, Orang Asli, Siamese community as well as those in Sabah and Sarawak still support the BN. We will continue to give them greater assistance, that is what we will do," he said.

At the same time, he called on everyone to accept the decision made by the people in the last general election and that there was no necessity to dispute the matter by staging street demonstrations and so on.

He said the time had come for the national development agenda to proceed as usual and the people were anxiously waiting for the government to implement what had been promised in the general election manifesto.

Commenting further at the subsequent media conference, Muhyiddin said the report on the outcome of the analysis of the election results made by the BN was expected to be known next month.

"I have asked for a more detailed study to be carried out besides evaluating the results of every parliamentary and state constituencies.

"It is to enable initiatives to be taken to face future challenges better from the aspects of the voters or development issues and so on.

"We expect to receive this report next month," he said.

Muhyiddin said the analysis was important so that the BN could draw up strategies that could be adopted to ensure that the party would continue to get the people's mandate in future elections.
