YOURSAY 'If Zulkifli is right, then whoever, including the EC, commits electoral fraud is committing treason.'
'Treason if EC comes under Parliament's purview'
Quigonbond:
Perkasa vice-president Zulkifli Noordin, you might as well try to get an audience from the Agong right now and salivate at his feet as a favour to Umno.
In your little inconsequential universe, the only way not to commit treason is if Agong selects and appoints the Election Commission (EC) members.
That has never happened in Malaysia before and in our constitutional monarchy, it is not intended to happen.
The most that any reasonable NGO or Pakatan Rakyat can propose is to put in place a transparent process of recommending EC members, just like judges, to the Agong for appointment.
It is better to take that recommendation discretion away from a too powerful and highly partisan prime minister and put it in the hands of Parliament where the credibility and neutrality of the EC candidates can be subjected to intense public scrutiny.
Anonymous #19098644: Malaysia is a constitutional monarchy where Parliament reigns supreme.
The Agong who is the titular head, acts on the advice of the head of the government - the prime minister.
This nincompoop who is a so-called lawyer, doesn't even understand this basic principle. The racist, seditious, treasonous Zulkifli should be charged for his current and previous acts.
Kookie: The United Kingdom Electoral Commission is independent of the government and answerable to Parliament. I suppose this is treason, Zulkifli?
Why don't we follow what the UK does and stop wasting time re-inventing the wheel?
LogicalMalaysian: A parliamentary select committee was appointed prior to GE13 and made some recommendations to the EC. Did Parliament usurp the powers of the Agong?
What about the alleged wrongdoings by the EC - are those acts amounting to treason against the Agong? It is important that these issues are clarified by the relevant agencies.
Anticonmen: When the executive, judiciary and royalty are all controlled by one party, what check and balance is there left if you suggest that the EC be answerable only to the Agong?
Sarajun Hoda: We know his brains had a short circuit a long time ago. The people want the Parliament to appoint the EC commissioners because even the Parliament is under the Agong.
Furthermore, the suggestion is to put up names - the Parliament can submit names and the Agong can still vet them in concurrence with the other rulers before making the appointment. How does that become treasonous?
However, suggesting the EC to come directly under the Agong is also very good idea but that's like lowering the supreme status of Agong to the level of politics. Not very smart. I still wonder why we give space to such idiots?
Human Being: If Zulkifli is right, then whoever, including the EC, commits electoral fraud, is committing treason.
Armchair Newspaper: We have a constitutional monarchy, Mr Lawyer. The Agong appoints the PM, IGP (inspector-general of police), Parliament speaker, etc.
Making the EC answerable to Parliament is consistent with our constitution, democratic principles and rule of law. Really Mr Lawyer, how on earth did you pass your law exam?
Fantastic4: This is a clear display of how illiterate and uneducated these people are and a clear reflection of the political party they helm.
They tried so hard to be heard and pretend that they are smart and they don't even realised their stupidity. "Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps his mouth shut."
Abasir: This idiot who uses religion to manipulate the minds of Malays and other idiots like him should himself be charged with multiple counts of treason as well as being charged with causing racial tension in Malaysia.
The fact that BN remains quiet and not taking action against Zulkifli is a clear indication and confirms that the ruling party is in cahoots with this moron. How on earth the people of Malaysia could even consider him as a candidate to represent the people escapes me.
It must be the education system crafted by former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad to keep Malaysians stupid.
Game Changer: Zulkifli still thinks he's someone important. What he didn't know is that he's a joke in Malaysia, perhaps in the world.
It's a waste of media's time, effort and money to even entertain him, all the time talking nonsense to distract the Malaysian people.
Better to ask Najib Razak to respond to all of Zulkifli's and Perkasa's comments since the election, and see what the PM has to say.
Bluemountains: Zulkifli, is it treason if the government refuses to act on the recommendations of the royal commissions of inquiry (RCI)?
A recent RCI had recommended that action be taken against some individuals for their role in the fixing of judges. But nothing has been done. This amounts to treason as the RCI was carried out with the express orders of the Agong. Who should be charged for treason now?
Geronimo: By being appointed by the Agong, the EC is supposed to be an independent body. So in the same token, why is it that the EC is currently placed under the Prime Minister's Department? Isn't this treasonous as well?
I don't see the problem here - instead of reporting to the PM, the EC now reports to Parliament.
Treason, treason, treason, is that all their little brains can think of?
