Two DAP MPs have questioned whether the transfer of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission’s (EAIC) chief executive officer (CEO) to the Attorney-General’s Chambers was due to political interference.

Zairil Khir Johari (2) EAIC CEO Nor Afizah Hanum Mokhtar has been transferred to the AG’s Chambers, and Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari ( right ) and Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim have both questioned the decision.

“How can EAIC conduct its duty with such a messy administration? EAIC has no right to use the word integrity. Its officers can be appointed and transferred without a transparent process,” said Sim.

“Will political factors influence EAIC’s work?” he asked.

The transfer comes at a time when EAIC is under increasing public spotlight due to urgings to set up the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC).

With the transfer of its CEO, Zairil said that EAIC is now “barely alive”.

Last week, EAIC investigating officer Nadzri Ibrahim was removed from a special panel investigating death in custody cases set up by EAIC when it was revealed that he had earlier been involved in the Teoh Beng Hock case.
