The Election Commission (EC) will decide next week on whether it would be using the controversial indelible ink for the Kuala Besut by-election.

EC chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said that at present, it has not made any decision on the matter.

"Possibly a decision will be made next week," the EC chief was quoted as saying in Sinar Harian .

NONE It is understood that the EC had received a notification from the Terengganu speaker over the vacancy in the state seat.

Meanwhile, the same daily also reported that PKR is also prepared to put its candidate for the by-election following the death of Dr A Rahman Mokhtar ( left ) from BN.

Terengganu PKR chief Azan Ismail said PKR has potential candidates to contest in that post, although it is noted that in last month's general election, PAS had put up its candidate, Napisah Ismail.

"I am confident that PAS will consider a candidate from PKR. To improve the standing in Terengganu, it is wise that PAS considers PKR (to) put a candidate there," he said.

Presently, BN has 16 seats and PAS has 15, following A Rahman's sudden death due to cancer.
