A call by 130 Malay-Muslim NGOs to set up a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on the ‘Red Bean Army’ cybertrooper group will be raised with the cabinet on Friday.

NONE Shahidan Kassim (left in photo) , the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, told a press conference at the Parliament lobby today that these NGOs had alleged the opposition is funding the ‘Red Bean Army’.

“They are alleging that the ‘Red Bean Army’ receives huge funding. We are open to all suggestions, so we will (raise) this (with) the cabinet,” he said after receiving a memorandum from representatives of the NGOs.

"Many police reports have been lodged against ‘Red Bean Army’ and they are seen as (having been) quite active before and during the elections.”

Shahidan also said that he would inform the cabinet about the NGOs’ dissatisfaction.

Young Reporters Club chairperson Dzulkarnain Taib handed over the memorandum to Shahidan.

In it, the NGOs said the RCI would prevent a racial divide as well as "political instability", although it said the BN-led federal government has succeeded in averting these situtations.

"The Home Ministry's effectiveness is very important in ensuring that the peace and harmony of the people is kept," the memorandum reads.

It added that the those responsible for the alleged cybertrooper group must be identified.

The DAP has already denied any involvement in the 'Red Bean Army'.
