No number of ink demos will cleanse EC's image

YOURSAY 'I'm afraid the EC's tarnished track record shows that it cannot be trusted, no matter how many public demonstrations it holds.'

EC demonstrates ink, assures it is indelible

your say Lim Kuan Keat : I'm not sure what this indelible ink demonstration really proves. Just before GE13, the Election Commission (EC) also held a demonstration to "prove" that its ink was indelible. And during the election, this was proven otherwise.

So why should this new public demonstration be any proof that the ink to be used in the upcoming Kuala Besut by-election will be indelible?

I'm afraid the EC's tarnished track record shows that it cannot be trusted, no matter how many public demonstrations it holds.

MockingYou: EC, this new ink isn't going to exonerate you of the failure of the earlier ink.

Homesick: It's too little, too late. Now that you have been found out, you have bought the real indelible ink and are now willing to show the whole world.

Anonymous #78379017: This sample would naturally be of the best quality. But why didn't EC invite Bersih members to test it when it was queried earlier before GE13, when it was found out that it would not last seven days as claimed?

Now that they had succeeded in manipulating the GE, they are trying to cover up.

Lone_Star: Once the EC has been deemed ‘incredible' by the rakyat, it can demo the most indelible of indelible inks for the journalists/reporters, but the rakyat cannot be 100 percent sure that the ink to be used at the polling stations is indeed truly the same as this most indelible ink.

The EC is not suddenly going to be credible and transparent after this one ink demo.

Barnie Flintstone: It is a clear admission of guilt by the EC, as it implies the indelible ink used for GE13 was a fake. Sue them with this admission, opposition. They have lied to the rakyat, just like they lied to the taxi men who did not get permits.

Cala: It's good that the ink is finally indelible. But what is the lesson learned? From the indelible ink fiasco, we learn that the power of the executives must be constantly checked and monitored. And they can only be checked through a two-party system.

Imagine if the Umno-led BN coalition were to enjoy a two-thirds majority in Parliament, would it listen to the voice of the people? Would it have considered replacing the ink supplier with a new one?

Jaded: This is such joke. So the EC is inadvertently saying or admitting that the original ink used in the last election was not indelible. Does this not nullify the entire election process?

Is this not a case of fraud wherein the supplier of the ink and the EC need to be held accountable in the court of law for providing a product that does not work?

Mahashitla: What is the use of showing off a different grade of indelible ink now, when the one used in GE13 was a fake.

The indelible was most useful during the GE as everyone was voting on the same day except for the advanced voters.

In a by-election, double-voting by locals is no longer a major concern as outsiders can also do the job of casting phantom votes.

Well Thats Fantastic : Having this by-election so close to the general election is great to demonstrate that the ink used in the GE was nothing like the real ink that is to be used now.

I bet we will see plenty of people in Kuala Besut with one stained finger for at least a week, possibly longer.

Of course, there is no objection from BN now, as they can use all the foreign voters at their command without needing to have them vote more than once this time.

Joker: EC, while this batch of indelible ink may be genuine, we still want your heads to roll for the fake ink used in GE13.

It has been proven beyond a shadow of doubt that heads of EC have been misleading the public on the indelible/delible/edible ink.

CQ Muar: The question that comes to mind, EC chief Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof - why are you now out to prove the quality or authenticity that this indelible ink will be better than those used in GE13?

Does this mean, by your own admission, that the previous ink was tinted and inadmissible for usage. If so, then the entire GE13 should be declared null and void due to multiple voting?

The Kuala Besut is only a by-election, but we demand to know your response with regard to the entire GE13. With millions gone down the drain, will you take responsibility by reimbursing the entire amount spent?

That was not money from the government, but from taxpayers. Nonetheless, may I suggest that you, your deputy and all from EC to quit as a matter of honour (i.e. if you have it).

Toonarmy: This is only for demonstration purposes. Pelikan ink mixed with fruit juices will be used for the Kuala Besut by-election.

What is certain is that Umno's in-house elections department (formerly the EC) will continue to rob Malaysians of our democratic rights.
