A spokesperson from GSC in Kuala Lumpur said the management was considering the matter in the wake of the Penang government's decision to “ request ” the outlets not screen the movie, scheduled to open nationwide tomorrow.
State executive councillor on local government Chow Kon Yeow (

) had said cinema operators would be issued letters asking them not to screen the movie as it threatens the inter-racial harmony in the country.
It is not, however, a ban but a request by the local council which issues operation licenses to the cinemas.
"We are still reviewing whether to screen it in Penang or not. We will decide by tomorrow and will issue a statement on the matter," said the cinema spokesperson, who requested anonymity.
Earlier, when asked to comment, the same officer said cinemas in Kuala Lumpur will, however, continue the screening as all its movies have gone through the national censorship board.
"So we will leave it to the discretion of the movie-goers whether they wish to see a movie or not," said the official.
However, not all outlets out of the 28 nationwide will screen the movie, she added, without providing any reasons.
It is learnt that TGV Cinemas may not be showing the movie at its outlet in 1st Avenue, Penang.
The management is unavailable for comments.
