Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) film studies undergraduates will conduct research on the film Tanda Putera as part of the faculty’s pilot study on patriotic films, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Film, Theatre and Animation Faculty dean A Razak Mohideen reportedly said that the study will look into the film’s cinematography, screenplay and adaptation of historical events.
Razak, who is behind the Anak Mami series of films, added that the faculty’s research into patriotic films will used for the reference of future generations, so they would not be swayed by inaccurate versions of history.
“We welcome the suggestion to turn this film ( Tanda Putera ) into a subject of academic study by institutions of higher learning.
“We will now look for funds for the study and will encourage undergraduates to take this film as their thesis project,” he was quoted as saying.
Yesterday, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Razali Ibrahim had said that the film should be made a topic of academic study at institutions of higher learning.
