Up to 10 suspected robbers have died as a result of separate shootouts with police during the last three consecutive days.

In the latest incident, four Indonesian nationals were reportedly pursued by police to low-cost flats in Ampang Hilir in Kuala Lumpur, after a robbery at a VVIP’s house in Bukit Antarabangsa, Hulu Kelang early today.

According to Bernama, Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohmad Salleh said the suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were shot when police raided the premises at about 12.20pm today following a tip-off.

He said police were forced to open fire when the suspects fired at them.

"Police searched the scene and found a pistol, believed to be a revolver, a machete and jewellery, believed stolen from the VVIP's house," he told reporters at the scene in Kuala Lumpur today.

During the raid, he said, police also detained a local, in his 40s, on suspicion of buying some of the stolen jewellery at the premises.

This comes after the deaths of three alleged robbers were reported in Sentul on Wednesday, followed by another three in Ipoh yesterday.

Gunned down

In Oct 9's incident, Selangor police said the three were part of a group of men that had earlier robbed a woman outside a bank in Klang at 11.30am.

Police were in pursuit of the trio, who had driven away from the scene, when the robbers opened fire as they reached the Sentul Pasar toll plaza, promoting police to return fire and killing the three.

Selangor deputy police chief Abdul Rahim Jaafar reportedly said while the three deceased were yet to be identified, they were also suspected of being involved in a RM35,000 robbery in Subang Jaya on Monday.

Meanwhile, yesterday, four alleged robbers had earlier carried out a RM1.8 million jewellery heist near Meru Raya in Jelapang, Ipoh.

Three were gunned down after first shooting at police at the Meru Raya traffic light junction during their escape bid, while one robber sustained injury to his leg, but escaped.
