Ninety-eight percent or 217,694 consumer accounts in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Klang, Shah Alam and Gombak had their water supply restored as at 3pm yesterday.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) corporate communications and public affairs assistant general manager Priscilla Alfred said only 2,388 accounts in Klang and Shah Alam, and 842 accounts in Petaling were still experiencing low water pressure.

“The water supply in the affected areas in Gombak and Kuala Lumpur have been fully restored since 9am yesterday.

“Syabas expects the supply to all areas on higher ground and at the rear end of the water distribution system to be fully restored by tomorrow (Thursday) morning,” she said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The areas that were still under low pressure are Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, Desa Petaling, Jalan Kuchai Lama, Jalan Klang Lama, Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park and Taman OUG.

Other areas are Jalan Sungai Besi, Kampung Baru Salak Selatan, Kampung Malaysia, Taman Bukit Indah, Taman Desa and kawasan Bukit Naga.

Priscilla said works to rehabilitate and upgrade the main treatment plant was completed by Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd by 8pm yesterday.

“Subsequently, the treated water would be channelled into the Matang Pagar balancing reservoir. At the same time, Syabas would re activate distribution from 41 of Syabas’ main reservoirs and service reservoirs,” she said.

She urged consumers to use water sparingly, as it would help to expedite restoration for areas that were still experiencing low pressure.
