Four non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today lodged police reports demanding that action be taken against a member of parliament for insulting Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's wife Rosmah Mansor and the government.

The report was lodged against Seputeh MP Teresa Kok who was allegedly involved in the making of the video clip entitled 'Onederful Malaysia', in conjunction with the Chinese New Year.

The video clip was downloaded and circulated widely on YouTube over the past five days.

The four NGOs are Persatuan Aduan Rakyat, Persatuan Inspirasi Melayu Gombak (Impak), the Malaysian Mobile Phone Owners Association (Perbit) and the Coalition of NGOs Gombak.

Persatuan Aduan Rakyat chairperson T Murugiah (right) , who was formerly deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department, said the video could cause racial problems.

"We hope Teresa Kok apologises and withdraws the video clip," he said after lodging a report at the Gombak police headquarters.

The 11.39-minute video clip features four individuals, including Kok, talking and discussing various issues related to race and country.

Persatuan Jaringan Kaseh Ixora Putrajaya chairperson Zarina Ismail, who said she was representing the NGOs in Putrajaya, wanted the authorities to take action against Kok under the Sedition Act 1948.

She told a press conference that along with other Putrajaya NGOs, she lodged a police at the district police headquarters on Friday.

In the meantime, Kok told the media that the YouTube video was merely a humourous political satire and was meant to enliven the atmosphere of the Chinese New Year.

She said she would not remove the video from YouTube.

Meanwhile in Muar, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Razali Ibrahim described Kok's action as a betrayal to the country.

He said as a citizen of the country, Kok should have shown good example, instead of tarnishing her own image as a member of parliament.

"We want to know the motive in producing the video at a time when people are celebrating the Chinese New Year," he told reporters when met at the residence of Muar MCA division chairperson Tay Puay Chua in Parit Jawa today.
