Claiming that she is being harassed, the DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok lodged a police report this morning at the Kuala Lumpur district headquarters.

One of her aides, who answered her mobile phone today, said she did not name any party as being behind the ‘harassment’, linked to a satirical video that she had posted online.

He said Kok had been receiving calls and text-messages since Feb 3, with many callers using “vulgar and threatening words”.

"We will leave it to the police to investigate," he said.

The video, uploaded on YouTube on Jan 27, features Kok ( left ) as a talk-show host interviewing a panel of experts on what to expect in the Chinese lunar Year of the Horse.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek yesterday dubbed the content as "annoying, nauseating and disgusting".

The police are also looking into the content, which has earned brickbats from other BN leaders and pro-BN groups.

'Phrases in the video have been twisted'

Asserting her right as a Malaysian to make "benign political satire," Kok said certain Chinese phrases in the video have been twisted to stoke racial sentiments against her by Umno-related factions.

"Apart from ceramah, a political satire is just another medium in reaching society to express the feelings of the people.

"There is nothing seditious or defamatory in my Chinese New Year video clip, as commented by the Bar president and legal experts that I have consulted," Kok said in a statement.

She  also warned Umno leaders Shafie Apdal, Khairy Jamaluddin and Shabery (right) "to desist and stop the unwarranted attacks against me".

"I would urge them to view the video clip again before making wild accusations against me," she said.

Noting that Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohamad Salleh has said an investigation paper on Kok over the video has been opened, she called for her police report also be given equal weight.

"I call on the police to conduct a professional and fair investigation," she said.

Kok had in filed a October 2008 filed a RM30 million suit against Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia and its columnist Mohd Zaini Hassan for defaming her in a report that said she had called for a mosque to reduce the volume of its loudspeakers during the call to prayer for Muslims (azan).

Following the Utusan report, she was in September 2008 detained for a week under the Internal Security Act (ISA).
