Under Najib, the country is on MH370 mode
YOURSAY ‘This country is running on autopilot and it is a free-for-all.’
Zaid likens Najib to Chinese emperor
Aries46: Former law minister Zaid Ibrahim pointing out PM Najib Abdul Razak's slew of never-ending flaws or asking him to do the right thing is like flogging a dead horse.
Najib doesn’t care two hoots about who says what as he rides on his lifelong dream to sit at the pinnacle. He will cling on to it at whatever cost come MH370 or hudud or whatever, unless and until hudud comes to Putrajaya.
As you rightly mentioned, he has a set of sycophants who will gladly tell him how nice the emperor's invisible robes are.
Ipohcrite: I applaud Zaid for his brave stand on issues of the day and in criticising the PM and the Malays as well, and, I might add, at the risk of being labelled a traitor.
But I wouldn't agree with his assessment of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. During his tenure, so many of his family members were involved in numerous crony and sweetheart deals that cemented their family fortunes to this day.
The previous PM was certainly no Mr Clean as he condoned, and even in many cases, used his office and position to secure those deals.
Ketuanan Rakyat: Zaid, you talk sense at times. Make your political stand clear and remain firm on it, then you will be a political leader for serious consideration by Malaysians.
Do not do another 'Kajang' type move again. Please earn your credibility since you already have all other needed qualifications to be a national leader.
Homesick: I disagree with you, Zaid. By comparing Najib to the Chinese emperors is an insult to thousands of years of Chinese civilisation. He is more like Emperor Nero of Rome.
Nero fiddled while Rome burned. This is exactly what's been happening in Malaysia right now. Maybe he is the reincarnation of Nero.
Anonymous_3faa: If this nation should go up in flames, Najib would go down in history as the one who singularly brought it down by his total inaction on every causative issue that perpetuated Malaysia's demise, even if Dr Mahathir Mohamad had started the ball rolling decades ago.
Swipenter: Zaid, how wrong can you be. One Umno Baru warlord from Penang declared that the Malays are the chosen race to lord over Bolehland during the last Umno Baru AGM.
Now Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) has declared that the chosen race must correct the historical "Chinese mistake" to make Bolehland Tanah Melayu again. How can conniving Najib not care about the Malays then?
Antibody: Dear Zaid, the Malays will not vote for you as you ridicule them too much and assume the failure of the Malays on being forbidden to read Darwin’s ‘Theory on the Origin of Species’, etc.
Please note that Darwin's work is still a theory till today and not proven as scientific fact. All I can say is that Zaid needs to read more diverse books on the sciences and on Islam as a way of life.
Hplooi: Dear Antibody, a large part of quantum mechanics (as we know it) is still considered theory (notwithstanding that many of the state-of-the-art electronics are based on some of these theories).
Ditto ‘Origin of Species’. Hawkings’ 'A Brief History of Time' is also replete with conjectures and theorising.
By your reasoning, we should just junk all books which are but just theories. This will include a huge body of books and studies.
Well, let’s start with Einstein’s 'General and Special Theory of Relativity' - junk. How about quantum mechanics? If they still cannot figure out Schrodinger's cat, then junk. Now what else?
Up to the late 70s ‘Red Star over China’ (Edgar Snow) and Dr Mahathir Mohamad's ‘The Malay Dilemma’ were banned. But I managed to read both books back then.
Now both aforesaid books are 'unbanned' but 'Origin of Species' is banned? Wow and double wow. 1FunnyMalaysia is really amazing.
Siang Malam: By the time I graduated I had read ‘Mein Kampf’ by Adolf Hitler, ‘Das Kapital’ by Karl Marx and ‘The East is Red’ by Mao Zedong. Recently I read ‘The History of God’ by Karen Armstrong.
I am still a simple Buddhist man, much wiser from my knowledge.
Kyrie Eleison: Najib is just continuing with Umno's tradition of making the Malays stupid and dumb. People like him and Dr M are indeed very cruel people.
They get to where they are at the expense of the poor Malays and to undo this, it will take at least two to three generations before the Malays can become on par with the other races. And that is also assuming Pakatan Rakyat wins the next general election.
Well Thats Fantastic: How is it that every time Zaid opens his mouth he needs to be educated by the right-minded thinking Malaysians who are just ordinary rakyat, not politicos?
The problem with your "good" PM Abdullah was that he also used his position to prop up his family’s catering business, so he was corrupt as well, and his sympathy to the fictional Malay cause left him open to being used by the religious zealots that are such a big problem today.
I’m glad he is gone, I have no idea why Najib is our PM now, though.
Seadragon: This country is running on autopilot and it is a free-for-all. And when a plane is on autopilot, you know where it will land ultimately.
MacMac: Indeed, Malaysia is on MH370 mode under Najib's leadership.
