TELUK INTAN A total 95.61 percent or 392 out of the 410 early voters at the Teluk Intan Parliamentary by-election voted at the Hilir Perak District Police Headquarters Multi-purpose Hall today.                   

State EC director Ahmad Adli Abdullah said the early voting process which started from 8am to 5pm, went without a hitch. "The agents of the candidates, supporters and the candidates of the parties themselves gave good cooperation," he told reporters after the early voting centre was closed.

 

He said the ballot box for the early voting was then taken to the Teluk Intan Municipal Council to be kept in a safe before the votes were counted on Saturday with the other votes of ordinary voters.   

 

He urged supporters and political parties contesting to always abide by the rules and general election laws to ensure the whole by-election went well.

 

Ahmad Adli said the EC would make its final preparations for the normal voting process on Friday at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Abdul Rahman Talib from 8am.    

 

"On polling day this Saturday, we expect EC to start receiving Form 14 (containing information on the vote count) at 6.30pm," he said.

 

The Teluk Intan Parliamentary by-election sees a straight fight between BN candidate Mah Siew Keong and DAP candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.

The constituency has 23,301 Malay voters (38.3 percent), 25,310 Chinese voters (41.9 percent) and 11,468 Indian voters (19 percent).
