PAS Youth has urged Malaysia to cease trade with Israel, which goes into millions of ringgit, to pressure Israel against further attacking Palestine.

Federal Territories PAS Youth deputy chief Nurul Islam Mohamed Yusoff ( right ) said that data from the Israel Bureau of Statistics show that Malaysia has consistently traded with Israel, at least in the last few years.

In a statement yesterday, he said exports from Israel to Malaysia from 2008 to 2011 ran to billions, with 2011 figures the highest at RM2.3 billion. Imports also run into hundreds of millions of ringgit every year.

Malaysiakini 's checks on the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics show that Malaysia is an active trading partner of the Jewish nation in 2013.

Exports to Malaysia range from dried fruits to electronics, while imports from Malaysia include crude palm oil and biscuits.

“I urge the prime minister to stop Israel from conducting any more military operations or face wide-scale boycotts in Malaysia.

“I also urge Malaysia, as a member of the Organisation of Islamic Countries to invite all OIC members to do the same,” he said.

The government earlier said that although it has no diplomatic ties with Israel, it cannot stop Malaysian firms from trading with Israeli counterparts.

It is reportedly in retaliation of Hamas rockets fired into Tel Aviv, after Israel arrested hundreds of Palestinians following the abduction and murder of three Jewish boys.

A Palestinian teenager was also abducted and torched to death, in what is believed to be a revenge killing.

Malaysia has condemned the attacks on Palestine.
