'With MACC men let off, Teoh died in vain'

Lim ( left ) said that at the very least, the MACC should be held at fault as the DAP staffer walked into the Selangor MACC well and alive and was found dead there soon after.
“(Teoh)’s death would be in vain if firstly, his killers remain free and unpunished; and secondly, the MACC is not held responsible and liable for his death…
“(Instead MACC) were allowed to ‘go to great lengths’ to participate in a ‘cover-up’ of the actual causes and circumstances of Beng Hock’s death at the Teoh Beng Hock Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI), with MACC officers telling ‘lies after lies’ at the RCI,” he said, citing the RCI report on the death.
Malaysiakini reported that the MACC special committee had cleared former Selangor investigations unit head Hishamudin Hashim, assistant enforcement officer Arman Alies and assistant superintendent Mohd Ashraf Mohd Yunus of any indiscipline related to Teoh’s death.
The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) had in 2012 also cleared Hishamudin, Anuar and Ashraf of criminal charges.
'Disclose investigations'
Teoh was found dead at Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam exactly five years ago yesterday, after an overnight interrogation at MACC's Selangor headquarters located in the building.
The death sparked waves across the nation, leading to an inquest and later, the formation of an RCI.
However, like the inquest into his death, the RCI did not affix responsibility of the death on any party. This, Lim said, meant that the RCI has failed.
Meanwhile, Selangor executive council member Ean Yong Hian Wah ( left ), who had employed Teoh as his political secretary, expressed “shock” over MACC’s findings.
He also urged the MACC to disclose the details of the investigations which led the anti-graft agency to clear the trio, and called for an independent probe.
“The announcement by MACC is totally unacceptable and a slap to the face of RCI that labelled the trio as Arman ‘the bully’, Mohd Ashraf ‘the abuser’, and Hishamudin ‘the arrogant leader’ based on their investigation tactics.
“The white-washing attempt by MACC on the three officers that caused the death of Teoh Beng Hock will only make Malaysians further believe that the BN government is trying to cover up the truth and that it obviously has something to hide,” he said in a statement.
