PAS central committee member and Research Centre executive director Dzulkefly Ahmad today downplayed the controversial WhatsApp conversation between PAS central committee members which was leaked out yesterday.

He claimed that the remarks made by Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki was his "personal opinion" and does not represent the party.

"What Zuhdi proposed was his personal opinion, communicated through social media and is informal in nature," the former Kuala Selangor MP said in a statement.

He said that Zuhdi's remarks also did not represent the PAS research centre.

"Many other scenarios including worst case scenarios were discussed in the group," Dzulkefly ( right ) said.

He said that PAS remains steadfast in upholding the common policy framework with Pakatan Rakyat.

"PAS cannot be held responsible for the opinions of individual members," he added.

Zuhdi's message in the group was screen captured and leaked online yesterday morning, in which he suggested PAS team up with Umno to keep Khalid Ibrahim as menteri besar while forming a new Selangor state government.

However, Dzulkefly made no mention of the rather contentious second part of Zuhdi's remarks, in which he appeared to say that a collaboration with Umno would enable PAS to "swat away" complaints by DAP and non-Muslims.

He also appeared to endorse church raids, and spoke about Malay-Muslim hegemony being returned in the country by changing electoral borders.

Meanwhile, MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon in a statement said that BN will not "bite the bait" by accepting any proposal for collaboration by PAS in order to retake Selangor.

"BN respects the decision of the people and we shall wrest back Selangor in the next state elections, be it a snap polls or otherwise, through the moderate policies for all Malaysians which we have been practising for the past 57 years or so," he said.

He said the leaked conversation showed PAS' "true colours" and that MCA Youth was "not surprised" regarding what the conversation entailed.

"The Whatsapp group chat shows nothing but the fox which has been hiding under the sheep skin of DAP revealing its tail," he said.
