Youth wings: Pakatan elders can solve crisis
Party elders should sit down together and talk, to show that the opposition has enough brain power at the top to tackle the internal crisis now faced over the Selangor menteri besar issue, Pakatan Rakyat’s youth wing leaders said today.
Party elders should sit down together and talk, to show that the opposition has enough brain power at the top to tackle the internal crisis now faced over the Selangor menteri besar issue, Pakatan Rakyat's youth wing leaders said today.
In a joint statement, youth leaders of PAS, DAP and PKR said that they would be happy to facilitate an "eight eyes" meet between PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, DAP parlimentary leader Lim Kit Siang and the man in the hot seat, Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim ( right ).
"Based on political experience, leadership and intelligence that these elders possess, we are fully confident that such a meeting will be able to overcome and solve the problems we are facing now," the statement said.
It added that such a meeting should take place in a harmonious situation, with open minds and willingness to uphold the collective interest, for the sake of the future generations.
The statement was jointly signed by PAS’ Suhaizan Kaiat ( left ), PKR’s Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and DAP’s Teo Kok Seong.
The youth leaders also said that the elders could also draw lessons and guidance on the experience of PAS in facing the Kelantan political conflict over the menteri besar situation, way back in 1977.
The rare unity among the youths of Pakatan comes about as many were worried that this issue could ruin the future of the opposition grouping, which aimed to bring change to their beloved Malaysia.
"We think that the current crisis is giving a bad picture to the younger generation who will inherit the leadership in the future. Young Malaysians want to see all problems that arise in Pakatan to be quickly resolved through the negotiating table," they said.
Lastly, they also urged all Pakatan symphatisers including NGOs, religious leaders and civil society to back their sincere suggestion.
