YOURSAY ‘So it’s okay to be anti-Semitic but seditious to ‘like’ Israel?’

Penang CID chief defends 'I love Israel' probe

Anonymous #039163649: I hope Penang Criminal Investigation Department chief Mazlan Kesah's superiors come to their senses on this one.

They are putting a good 17-year-old student under tremendous stress and trauma not knowing what is going to befall him. What crime has the kid committed for the ‘like’ click to ‘I Love Israel’ website found on his Facebook page, which he said was not done deliberately?

Why destroy his future for nothing? Did rioting take place on account of the click? Were there demonstrations on account of the click?

Even the teachers who did the posting appear to have regretted and even apologised to the boy. I believe the teachers never imagined that the matter will be taken this seriously.

Nobody made a police report against the boy. The cops acted on their own initiative when the student made a report against the threats. And yet Muhyiddin Yassin said, cops are slow to act on non-Malays.

Malaya: To investigate a sedition charge case, the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) should first establish whether the boy has indeed committed a crime otherwise it is a waste of monies, energy and resources.

The boy should instead engage a lawyer to file a case against the PDRM for harassment.

Anonymous_1371547149: This is pure bullying by the teachers and the police. They are a shame to the teaching profession and the police force respectively.

I hope this young man will not suffer psychological harm from the continuous interrogation by the police and the subtle intimidation by the teachers.

Be strong, young man, know that we are all on your side. I'm sure if he had ‘liked’ Hamas instead of Israel, none of this would have happened.

He would instead be the darling of the school and an example to be emulated.

Oriole: This is a despicable witch-hunt of a child. And this boy is to sit for his SPM in a short while.

Where is the state government on this matter? A child in Penang is facing state persecution, through the misdeeds of his teachers. Is the chief minister concerned about this?

And why have we not heard from human rights monitors in the country, aside from Suhakam ?

Fairnessforall: This issue only shows the stupidity and ignorance of those teachers and others who hit out at this student.

Instead of investigating the teacher and the other idiots who threatened this teenager, they are investigating him.

Why aren't the authorities investigate those who ‘like’ ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria)? Why investigate a boy who ‘liked’ the ‘I love Israel’ Facebook page? After all, liking or loving Jews is not seditious.

Rupert16: The police had better use their resources for more important things like crime prevention and going after illegal immigrants and criminals.

Maybe Form 5 students are easier to deal with. Also, why not go after the Muslim convert who called Selangor a "babi" state - that certainly is more seditious than what the Form 5 student did.

Abasir: Is it not also the duty of the police to investigate Tee Chuan Seng aka Ridhuan Tee aka Uztaz Ridhuan Tee Abdullah who reportedly said Selangor might have to be renamed Selangor Darul Babi?

Wanderer: Yes, I love Israel, Mazlan. You have a problem with that?

A case of loving Israel could be for many reasons - their brilliance in converting the barren land for agriculture, their political ideas secretly transferred to Umno and many more of their intellectual/technological achievements.

But did I say I embrace their Zionist ideology or admire their ruthless treatments to the Palestinians?

Keturunan Malaysia: Well done, Mazlan, after you have put 'your foot in your mouth', you are now trying to justify it.

Speaking Sense: If I make a police report that my neighbour's feet stink, does this mean the police must also carry out a full-scale investigation? No wonder, the real criminals are laughing all the way to freedom.

KDP: So in Malaysia it is okay to be anti-Semitic but it’s seditious to love Israel? How can loving Israel be construed as sedition? Was there an attempt to subvert peace in this land?

Is the person a clear and present danger to society?

MingXiang: I’m awaiting the report from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). This is a serious case and the police must come down hard on the kid. Imagine he has got the audacity to ‘like’ Israel.

Does he not know that it is a serious crime to do so? But ignorance is no excuse.
