PAS has denied that it has held discussions with Umno and was ready to unite with the party in Selangor to keep Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Menteri Besar.

No such meeting took place between Selangor PAS and Umno in the state, the Islamist party said today.

In refuting a news report by The Malaysian Insider , PAS Ulama wing information chief Khairuddin Aman Razali ( left ) said he had never "admitted" to a PAS-Umno pact in Selangor.

Khairuddin  said this in a Facebook posting of he made yesterday.

In a statement issued today, Khairuddin said the report, which claimed that his posting was an admission that two PAS assemblypersons' decision to back Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the new Menteri Besar had foiled plans to keep Khalid as MB with Umno's cooperation, was "slander" against him.

"What I said was merely that Khalid's position had become untenable because he only had the support of 26 assemblyperson. It was not an admission from me," he said.

He said that headline of the report was a "fabrication".

Yesterday, in a writing titled 'Which direction will PAS be brought to?', Khairuddin said the breaking of ranks with the party to back Azizah ( right ) by the two assemblypersons in Selangor scuppered any plan to keep Khalid as MB.

He also slammed the friction within PAS, with one faction being accused of trying to team up with Umno for an 'unity government'.

"Every time there is a muktamar around the corner, the talk of these pro-unity government faction comes up," Khairuddin said.

He said that while PKR was not criticised for it's "national consensus" efforts and meets, he questioned why PAS was receiving flak for any hint of an unity movement.

"Is it because whatever PKR does is right and anything that comes from PAS is wrong?" he asked.

Meanwhile, Selangor PAS secretary Khairuddin Othman ( right ) also denied that attempts to unite with Umno in Selangor had been made.

Khairuddin said that Umno had supported Khalid to remain as MB because it did not want the state assembly to be dissolved and it was not confident of winning back the state should state elections be called.

"It does not mean PAS Selangor and Umno Selangor are working together," he said.

Khairuddin said that PAS Selangor would stay "loyal" to Pakatan.

He said some quarters were making "wild assumptions" that were "ill intentioned" against all PAS Selangor members.

Asked further about his statement in a chat group with journalists, Khairuddin said that such "assumptions" for a unity government between PAS and Umno were likely to have come from "within" the federal opposition pact and not outside of it.
