New Selangor MB to be sworn in next Tuesday

A new Selangor menteri besar will be sworn in next Tuesday and while Pakatan Rakyat leaders claim to be in the dark as to who the person is, the speculation mill has gone into overdrive.
Contacted this afternoon, the sultan's private secretary Mohamad Munir Bani confirmed that the state would have a new MB next week and invitation cards to the swearing-in ceremony have been sent out.
Munir, however, was tightlipped on the identity of the new menteri besar or which party the person is from.
According to an invitation card sighted by Malaysiakini , the swearing-in ceremony would be held at the Alam Shah palace in Klang at 10am.
Officials from the Mestika Palace in Shah Alam also confirmed that the invitation card and its details are authentic.
Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua told Malaysiakini that he has read about the swearing-in ceremony but is "clueless" as to the details.
Similarly, Selangor PKR assemblypersons also claimed to be unaware.
They said assemblypersons are not usually invited for the swearing-in ceremony of the menteri besar as was the case during the last two swearing-ins of Khalid Ibrahim in 2008 and 2013.
PKR and DAP's sole nominee for the post, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, also has no details nor received an invitation.
Likewise, her deputy Azmin Ali, whose name was initially nominated by PAS, told Malaysiakini that he too did not receive an invitation and has no knowledge on who would be the next menteri besar.
Met at the sidelines of the PAS muktamar in Johor this evening, PAS' Selangor state exco Sallehen Mukhyi refused to speculate if he would be a potential candidate.
Asked if PAS would turn down the post if offered, he said: "This is the party leadership’s decision."
As for the speculation mill, the names to have cropped up include Azmin, PKR’s Ijok rep Idris Ahmad, Selangor PAS chief Iskandar Samad and PAS Sijangkang rep Yunus Hairi.
Should the sultan's choice meet with opposition from PKR and DAP indicating that a no-confidence motion might be tabled when the state assembly convenes, there is the possibility of him dissolving the house for a fresh election.
Prior to this, Wan Azizah, who is also the Kajang rep, revealed that she has the majority support in the 56-member state assembly.
If the sultan appoints someone other than Wan Azizah, particularly Azmin, it is bound to ignite internal fireworks in PKR. Whereas if it is a PAS candidate, then DAP is surely to object.
