YOURSAY 'PAS will be totally wiped out in S’gor in the coming GE.'

PAS should accept S'gor MB post, says ulama

Pemerhati: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and his cohorts like secretary-general Mustafa Ali and the syura council go against the constitution when they say or imply that the sultan can appoint any leader who does not have the support of the majority of assemblypersons, as Selangor MB.

While these people give the impression that they are upright Muslims and very firm in upholding Islamic values and practices, they also show that they have absolutely no respect for the constitution.

One is thus tempted to ask if their Islamic values and practices teach and encourage them to not follow and do things constitutionally.

If they continue to insist that the sultan can appoint any assemblyperson who does not have majority support as the MB, then the answer to the question would be yes, their type of Islamic values and practices make them act unconstitutionally.

In that case, there would be many upright and right-thinking Muslims who would be horrified and outraged that people claiming to be good upright Muslims can indulge in such crooked behaviour.

Well That's Fantastic: If PAS does accept the Selangor MB’s post (if offered), I suggest ejecting them from Pakatan Rakyat and then call a state election so PKR and DAP can stand in all PAS areas to show them what the people want.

We need leaders, not religious teachers.

FairMind: "Why do we want to make enemies with the palace when Umno has already made enemies with the palace," said acting Dewan Ulama chief Mahfodz Mohamed.

You got it all wrong. Umno is in bed with the palace and not an enemy of the palace. You have been played out once by Umno. To be played out by Umno twice, you will have nobody else but yourself to blame.

Secondly, what is the use of the having the confidence of the palace when you become the enemy of the people?

You will be totally wiped out in Selangor in the coming general election. Will the sultan's confidence in you then be of any use?

Fact Not Fiction: Indeed, what is the use if you are appointed by the sultan but rejected by the people? Wise up.

Armageddon: PAS was betrayed by Umno before and now PAS is trying to get even but with Pakatan partners?

Myrights: So, Mahfodz is essentially saying a promise made to the coalition partners is not worth a sen when something better comes along.

This is what is generally termed as betrayal. And it is coming from the ulama faction of PAS, the supposedly righteous and religious people of the party. What a bunch of hypocrites.

ACR: Terengganu, one term. Kedah, one term. Kelantan in poverty. Perak was promising with a professional at the helm but was cut short by a conniving Umno. Now Selangor.

Anonymous_3f49: We'll never know where they stand, will we? Changing as they go along and they are the party of God?

Do they deserve to be in the coalition? Do they understand what being in a coalition entails? The rakyat now knows.

Thana55: What religion gives Mahfodz that wisdom? It’s time for the genuine Muslims to stand up and admonish this wayward religious bigot.

What4: As a person who upholds the teachings of Islam, one should not betray the trust of your partners and the rakyat. The action of this ulama does not reflect well on him as a Muslim.

Boonpou: Do what you want, members of PAS. Even accept it if the Selangor sultan was to approve someone from PAS as the next MB of Selangor.

But rest assure, PAS will only be legit in Kelantan, come the next GE. This much I am sure you would agree.

My only suggestion to PAS members who are sensible enough - those who do not have a Taliban mentality - is to form another party.

You Help Me, I Help You More: Whether or not PAS accepts the MB post, they are going to be history come GE14.

The 'Kajang move' has, in a way, proven to be a brilliant manoeuvre by PKR strategist Rafizi Ramli, in that it has exposed the vicious and power-crazy PAS.

If Pakatan were to stand a chance of capturing Putrajaya, they will have to kick out this stone-age PAS which is nothing more than a devious bunch of Taliban fanatics.

There are still a good number of PAS moderates and forward-thinking individuals who are backed by great leaders such as Mohamad Sabu, Khalid Samad, Dzulkefly Ahmad and Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

It is hoped that these leaders will break away and formed PasMa to rival PAS. I am sure this new party will garner more Malay support from either PAS or Umno.

The time to act is now and Pakatan should not delay any longer. Get rid of PAS before it is too late. All the moderates from PAS will be welcomed into PKR with open arms.

Samurai: Hadi and his ulama gang must know, with their behaviour, the fate of PAS in non-Muslim voters minds is finished. I will never, ever, vote for PAS again.

So either they are just arrogant, or cunningly and deliberately trying to destroy the opposition's chances, for reasons we can best guess.

As this happens at a time when the opposition looks set to demolish BN, I think the latter scenario is more likely.

Voice: Incredibly PAS leaders feel no shame for what they have done. After they got Pengkalan Kubor, they became even greedier.

They saw how PKR was reprimanded by HRH (his royal highness) sultan in the MB saga. Instead of giving support to PKR as a coalition partner, they tried to take advantage of the situation and seize the MB’s post for themselves.

This is the true face of PAS that we should know and reject.
