Join Umno? Thanks but no thanks, Adam tells KJ
Student activist Adam Adli Abdul Hamid has snubbed Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin’s offer to join the party.
Adam said this in response to Khairy’s expression of disappointment that Adam had left midway during the Youth chief's talk on Wednesday night on the evolution of youth politics.

When contacted by Malaysiakini , Adam said, snidely, “Thanks, but Khairy ( right ) can keep the Umno registration form, or give it to someone else.
"I have many other forms to fill for my court case, including the sedition case.
“I left early to give Khairy the chance to speak to his supporters. I was just a normal guest anyway, not one important.”
During his talk, Khairy quipped that because Adam Adli had left, he could not pass the activist an Umno registration form.
“Maybe you don't realise it, but I realised that (Adam Adli) has just left the hall.
“He was here but now he has left, so I didn’t get the chance to pass him the Umno registration form,” Khairy said to applause from some 300 youths at the event.
KJ: Don't be like Adam
Adam said he was at the Umno Youth’s Akademi Kepimpinan Kapten Hussein (Akhi) event after being invited by some friends, who are part of the academy, to witness “Khairy’s prowess” for himself.
During his speech, Khairy told the floor he was informed by his aide that Adam was in attendance, and had instructed the aide not to stop the activist from joining the programme.
Khairy also used the student activist, who had first attracted national attention when he took down the flag with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s face ( left ) in front of the Umno headquarters, as an example of what youth leaders should not be.
“We don’t want radical leaders like Adam Adli,” the Rembau MP said to resounding applause.
To this, Adam said he does not expect an institution like Akhi to produce “radical leaders”.
“Radical leaders are only born out of the people’s struggle, through the struggle on the streets,” he said.
Last month a sessions court in Kuala Lumpur sentenced Adam to 12 months’ jail for sedition for his statement at a forum on May 13, 2013, that the BN government ought to be toppled.
He is appealing the conviction.
