FREE YOURSAY ‘Both BN and Pakatan take for granted that rakyat support them.’

Coming soon: new left coalition

Left Power Gabungan Kiri: The left coalition has said many times that they are not an electoral pact, but it will be interesting if there are more choices.

At times, both the mainstream parties BN and Pakatan Rakyat take for granted that the rakyat support them.

Many supported Pakatan in the last election because they were fed up with BN. Lately the people are getting fedup with Pakatan.

The people must choose good candidates with principles and I am sure PSM and PRM have many such people. Politics should not be the monopoly of the corrupt.

Anonymous #20513663: Excellent. Hopefully this will make Malaysian politics more idea-based rather than personality-based (PKR), 'race'/hate/fear-based (BN) or religion-based (PAS).

Especially if Sabah and Sarawak are really involved in this, this signals a new era in Malaysian politics.

Pendatang: Just as in Semenyih split the votes and hand over the seat to BN.

Jerit: This is democracy. Everyone has the right to stand in elections.Semenyih seat was lost to BN because some parties were greedy and they collectively lost a working candidate.

So don’t blame it on PSM and PSM secretarygeneral S Arutchelvam (Arul), blame it on the parachute candidates.

Dr Suresh Kumar: One of the incidents that really got me to reevaluate my support for Pakatan was the way PSM's candidates were treated in the last polls by the Pakatan leaders that led to the defeat of the PSM candidates in Semenyih and Kota Damansara.

That incident, to me, epitomised the selfish nature of politicians who were screaming about a new 'world' order and Reformasi. It was a painful incident that went against human ethics.

It was an arrogant show of strength and power play by the Pakatan bigwigs against the PSM minnows. There was no respect, no decency and no gratitude whatsoever.

And when Arul objected to the three-corner fight in Semenyih then, he was whacked good and proper by the blind, unethical Pakatan supporters.

Many even branded him a troublemaker and demanded that he leaves Pakatan. Today these same ingrates are begging him to back Pakatan again.

Arul, go ahead with your plan, the time is ripe indeed. While I give my full backing and support for Suaram advisor Kua Kia Soong and Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia founder Haris Ibrahim to be candidates. I am not so sure about NegaraKu patron Ambiga Sreenevasan though.

Ratbatblue: In Malaysia, call yourselves "left wing" and be immediately labelled "communist". Not a wise move.

There will be sympathisers but they would be splitting the opposition vote. All said and done, Pakatan is effectively the opposition party.

What PAS does within this opposition now is left to be seen, but having experienced the Selangor fiasco, banking too much on them would be the rest of Pakatan’s biggest mistake.

If this coalition can come to a sort of loose alliance with the Pakatan, it would be more practical and a better cause for the opposition.

Wrath of Altantuya: Anything but Umno. PSM and PRM should work with Pakatan to get rid of the common enemy BN. Pakatan has got it sewn up in the peninsular. We must channel all our resources to capture Sabah and Sarawak. It is time to free the people of Sabah and Sarawak from poverty.

Lone_Star: We have not even got the twoparty system grounded fully and now PSM and PRM want a bigger share and threatens forming the third force. Please get your priority right.

The aim is to have BN defeated and hopefully the rakyat will get a better, more transparent, accountable government.

Unfortunately the 13th general election did not turn out successful. The 14th general election is probably the last chance, fail and we will go back to the dark ages.

Banzai: PSM, watch out, you may lose your sole parliamentary seat Sungai Siput also if you have wrong strategies.

Go with Pakatan and ensure that BN is defeated in GE14. BN must be defeated at all cost.

The Analyser: You lost my vote when you mentioned "running ideology classes for youths".

Haven't you learnt yet, that what Malaysia needs is less ideology and more practicality? At the moment ideology is tearing this country apart, or do you too think it's all Umno's fault?

What Malaysia needs more than anything else is independent individuals who will think and act for themselves.

Quigonbond: More lefties simply means more provocation from the extremist right. This new coalition will find themselves probed for sedition right, left and centre.

When it comes to elections, left and middle ground share more of the same pie than the right. Hence, there will be split votes. Means good news for BN.

If PSM and the other lefties really want to get rid of BN, they must strike a deal with Pakatan for a one against one match with BN.

Otherwise, this egoistical exercise is self-sabotaging from the word go.
