PARLIAMENT Yet another commotion broke out in Parliament today when BN Tanjung Karang MP Noh Omar belittled the actions of several lawmakers in meeting up with representatives from Sisters in Islam (SIS).

At first, during the discussion of the 2015 Supply Bill, Noh disputed the statement of Gombak MP and Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali of PKR on the issue.

Next, he trivialised the actions of Parit Buntar MP Mujahid Yusof Rawa and Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad, both from PAS, as “trying to act smart” with the issue regarding SIS, which has been declared “deviant” by the Selangor Islamic authorities.

“They are not smart, but want to act smart, for example Sepang, Shah Alam (and) Parit Buntar. What issue? Issue on SIS.

“How can they give a statement in support of SIS? If they really want to defend SIS, they need to be fair. They should have met with the mufti as well, not just with SIS,” Noh, who is also Selangor BN chief, said.

Immediately after the statement by Noh, Mujahid ( right ), who is also a PAS central committee member, stood up and declared that they “will meet with the Selangor Fatwa Council (SFC) next week”.

Then Noh, once again questioned the actions of Mujahid and Khalid, saying that they were not afraid of their “boss” as well as the Syura Council of their party.

Tian Chua: Noh making malicious allegations

“The problem with PAS is that the members are not afraid of their leader and the Syura Council. They oppose their president. This is the PAS  problem,” Noh said.

Batu MP Tian Chua ( left ) then stood up and lambasted Noh's statement, calling it “malicious allegations”.

Mujahid then stepped in an disparaged Noh's action of bringing up party issues in Parliament.

“What's the point of bringing up party issues here? Why are you discussing the Syura Council and so on? This is improper. If you want to talk about politics, go and talk outside the hall.

“I cannot stand if he talks about my party. I ask him to retract his statement.

“If he wants to talk, speak about legislative issues. There's no need to talk about the Syura Council,” an angry Mujahid, who is also chairperson of the PAS national unity committee, said.

Other than Mujahid, several other Pakatan Rakyat representatives stood up and disputed Noh's statement.

However, the commotion was diffused when the Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia called on all the lawmakers to sit down.
